Mission Statement
The Sapperton Landing Traditional Boat Centre preserves and advances the craft, culture, and community of wooden boats. We bring together experienced boatbuilders, learners, and enthusiasts to share knowledge, build boats, and keep maritime traditions alive.
We do this by:
- Providing a fully equipped workshop where members can build and restore boats.
- Offering hands-on courses in boatbuilding, tool use, and traditional maritime skills.
- Connecting members with expert boatbuilders and mentors.
- Hosting educational programs, demonstrations, and cultural events.
- Creating opportunities for the public to experience and learn about wooden boat heritage on the West Coast.
Our vision is to create a Heritage Boat Centre in New Westminster that will become a centre of excellence in the heritage art of wooden boat and canoe building and provide a home to heritage boat artisans.
